Mothers

OK I love my mom I really do but some days.......

I swear there's some rule somewhere that says that mothers have to embarrass their children. Usually I'm pretty good about it I'll just shake my head and laugh, just accept that shes my mother and she should be entitled to some embarrassing stories about me like how I peed my pants in the post office when I was younger (My grandpa took me to the post office with him and I told him that I had to go potty and he wouldn't listen he figured I could just hold it. I was two, two year olds cant hold it). Usually she likes to bring these stories up at social gatherings and everybody laughs when I blush. I just grin a bear it it will be over soon.

I always hoped it wouldn't get worse than that. Somehow it did. So back story: when I was in second grade I had a good friend who lived down the street he was about a year younger than me but we liked to play together. We would catch grasshoppers and torture them to death (I was a tomboy growing up) we made mud pies, raced bikes, played kick ball in our neighbors back yard, ate ants you know fun stuff. So one day we were just hanging out and he decided that he liked me so he kissed me well he tried, he missed because I didn't know what he was doing and turned my head away from him (he got my ear). After a couple more failed attempts he eventually got my lips (he tasted like Popsicles) and he was my "boyfriend" for a week or two. Well about nine maybe ten years later were still friends though I'm closer friends with his older sister at this point (I kinda grew out of the tomboy faze and started hanging out with girls and doing girl things). Were over at their house and my mother brings up "the kissing" and asks why we don't go on a date because quote "hes kinda cute and you did kiss him once". The entire time I was bright red and mumbling "OK you can stop now" and "I was in second grade, we don't need to talk about this" She still brings it up occasionally. I thought it couldn't get worse than that. Even when his sister and her started planning our wedding over face book a few months later. But it did.

Well the good news she eventually accepted that I wasn't going to marry him. We have become close friends with his family and hes more like a cousin now and that would just be weird.

As I got older I thought those episodes were a thing of the past I mean how can she embarrass me when I don't even live with her anymore and the only time I see her is on the holidays or the occasional weekend. Some how she manages just fine. So a little more back story I'm 19 our neighbors have a 17 year old son and she is now convinced that I have to marry the boy next door literally. This started about two years ago, she kept telling me "you should marry him hes cute and his mother loves you and his dad is our bishop" (we are LDS) my response was always "yeah he is nice and hes not bad looking if only he had a drivers license...darn I guess I can't marry him". Well he has a drivers license now and a car and she has recently decided that she needs grandbabies within the next five years. It was fine when it was just us. She would teas me about it at dinner or when we did family scripture study and my step dad would just shake his head and sympathize with me. Recently it has gotten worse she has gotten his mother in on it now. We were over at their house a few weeks ago just chatting and my mother brought it up that I should marry him and his mother thought about it for a while than decided it was a fantastic idea and we could buy the house on the other side of them when the lady living there died (shes about 80 years old so...). I did my best to make her stop talking I pointed out that he was barely even 17 and I was going to be 20 in a few months but that didn't seem to faze either of them. I told them they would have to wait till after he went on his mission and it would be like four years before we could get married and they still wouldn't listen. Even his younger siblings agreed with me and I'm sure his older sister would have too if she had been present (luckily he was not there). Now there is nothing wrong with this boy he would be a great husband and his parent would be wonderful in laws but the fact that he is only 17 is kinda a turn off and he may be a little to into sports for my liking. The sad thing is it gets worse. So my mother was put into young women's at the beginning of the summer and they meet once a week and do fun stuff and sometimes they do combined activities with the young men (and he is still in young men's) well tonight they made cakes for their activity and decorated them then they invited the boys to have cake with them and it was all good fun. They even invited me to come with them but I didn't (I should have). His mother was there my mother was there and so was he and I wasn't there to do damage control. Apparently they talked to him about it and hes OK with the whole thing as long as he makes more money than I do, he gets to coach our children's sports teams, and I know how to cook (that one was the deal breaker, lucky for him I can cook). So now it's decided I'm marrying the boy next door they already started planning the wedding and we're honeymooning in his family's cabin (which would actually be pretty cool they have a nice cabin). He fully agreed to it he said "yeah if shes not married before I get home from my mission sure, she makes me laugh and it doesn't matter if shes not into sports as long as she comes to our kids sporting events I'll be happy"
When my mother told me I wanted to die from embarrassment. I swear she does it just for that reason. She's trying to kill me.

Hi

So what do you write for your first post? Hmm...well...yeah.

OK OK I got something. I'll tell you a little bit about me. Doesn't that sound great? I'm a college student, normal family mom, dad, step dad, step mom, other step dad(practically my dad even though he and my mom got divorced) and other step dads wife, fiveish younger sisters, threeish younger brothers. I watch way to much TV, I can't spell to save my life, I like the color orange, what else? Oh, I think Peanut butter and Jelly is a terrible combination and alarm clocks are evil.

Yep that about sums it up right there.

So now what?

Well I'm moving out of my parents house again next week (had to move back for the summer). Can't wait to be with my roomies again they are awesome. Don't tell them I said that I have my reputation to uphold. Wouldn't want them to think I like them or anything.

Well I guess that's all I could tell you about my day in boring detail but I think I'll spare you this time.
